BSides IA organizer killed

Computer forensics researcher and BSides Iowa organizer Ken Johnson was killed this week by a drunk driver in West Allis, Milwaukee. The married father-of-two was 38.

The infosec conference, due to be held on April 16, has been cancelled. A funeral for Johnson, who worked for KPMG, will be held on April 9 in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. He is survived by his wife Jessica, his 14-year-old daughter, and his eight-year-old son.

Johnson was visiting Milwaukee on business when a drunk driver reportedly smashed into his Uber ride, killing Johnson and his Uber driver Yoruba Sly-Lundasi on Monday night. The drunk driver faces homicide charges, according to West Allis police.

Friends and family have paid tribute to Johnson – described as an "amazing husband and father" – here. ®
