One million Facebook users a month are now using Tor to connect to the social network.
"This growth is a reflection of the choices that people make to use Facebook over Tor, and the value that it provides them. We hope they will continue to provide feedback and help us keep improving," said Alec Muffett, software engineer for security infrastructure at Facebook.
In October, 2014, Facebook renounced its ban on Tor access to its site and set up a .onion URL for the privacy-minded to use. By June, 2015, over 525,000 people were using Tor to swap cat videos and Muffett said the numbers are growing "roughly linearly" month by month. ®
