Sprint bombs another year

US carrier Sprint boasts that for the first time in nine years it's made a positive operating income. Unfortunately, that $310m was wiped out by a $2bn net loss for the 12 months to March 31.

Over the year, Sprint banked $32.2bn in sales, down from 2014's $34.5bn. A year ago it recorded a $3.34bn net loss, worse than 2015's $1.99bn slam into the red looks.

The telco also took a $535m hit in the final quarter of its fiscal year – worse than Q4 2014's $224m loss – as net operating revenue fell to $8bn from $8.3bn in the year-ago quarter.

Sprint said it will have to cut another $2bn in costs this year after already slashing $1.3bn in costs in 2015. ®
