OpenStack summit coming to Australia in November 2017

The November 2017 OpenStack summit will take place in Sydney, Australia.

Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation, today announced that Sydney won the right to hold the summit.

Local OpenStack identities have lobbied hard with local tourism and events authorities, which have decided the summit fits right in with Australia's current drive towards all things digital and innovative.

The event will use Sydney's new convention centre, which can handily house the 7000-plus delegates expected to attend.

The last OpenStack foundation, in Austin, saw over 9,000 delegates attend. Lower attendance for further-flung summits is not seen as a bad thing, as the Foundation is committed to taking the project to the world, literally when possible. The Sydney summit will be the first in the southern hemisphere. ®
