Mossack Fonseca IT bod detained

A Switzerland-based IT employee of Mossack Fonseca has been detained by the Public Prosecutor in Geneva.

The detention was first reported by French newspaper Le Temps, which cites a source close to the matter who claims he is suspected of having "brought out a very large volume of confidential data" of the law firm over "a recent period."

A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office responded to The Register's enquiries to state:

Following your request, I can only confirm to you that a procedure has been opened by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Geneva after a complaint was filed by Mossack Fonseca. This investigation is still going on, under the direction of a prosecutor.

Because of the secrecy of this preliminary investigation, we do not communicate any further at this time.

More coming. ®
