Apple ebook payouts start

Apple iBooks Store customers will soon begin receiving their share of a $400m antitrust settlement.

Law firm Hagens Berman said that starting on Tuesday, it will be distributing credits to customers who purchased certain e-book titles related to the case.

Apple agreed to the $400m settlement in 2014 after it was charged that the Cupertino giant conspired with publishing companies to artificially inflate the prices of some digital books.

Under the terms of the settlement, customers who filed a claim will get a $6.93 credit for every New York Times bestseller they purchased during the settlement period, and $1.57 apiece for other titles. The money will be sent as a check or deposited as credit into an Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, or Apple iBooks store account, depending on the customer's preference. ®
