Azure Stack-in-a-box for 2017

Microsoft will deliver its Azure Stack in mid-2017, with partners Dell, HPE and Lenovo.

Takeshi Numoto, Microsoft Corporate VP for Cloud and Enterprise blogged about this from the company's Worldwide Partner Conference, saying Azure Stack is a hybrid cloud platform.

Dell, HPE and Lenovo will partner Redmond "to deliver pre-configured Azure Stack integrated systems." Note there is no Cisco presence – odd that. Azure Stack will "deliver Azure services from your datacenter or your customers' at cloud speed – while we do all the hard work so things just work for you."

With Dell buying EMC, which has its Vblock converged UCS-based systems and VxRail hyper-converged VMware systems, then the Dell-EMC marketeers' positioning challenges will get even more complicated. ®
