Google sucks up SaaS cloud

Google has bought SaaS startup Orbitera for addition to its Cloud Platform.

Orbitera, founded in 2011, lets you buy and sell software online and targets the enterprise - customers who include Adobe and Oracle. The firm, whose CEO, Marcin Kurc, is a firmer Amazon Web Services head of business development, promises to make the purchase and consumption of software bought and run online simpler for big organisations. It automates billing, packaging and pricing of such software for ISVs and claims more than 60,000 enterprise stacks on its platform. Google said the deal would “improve the support for software vendors on Cloud Platform” and reinforce “Google’s support for the multi-cloud world.” Google pledged to maintain Orbitera’s neutrality in support for other clouds. Financial terms of the deal were not released. ®
