Google buys Apigee

Google/Alphabet is buying Apigee for $625m – a 6.5 per cent premium on its current share price.

Apigee produces software that shares data across applications through APIs.

Google said in a statement: "Companies are moving beyond the traditional ways of communicating, like phone calls and visits, and instead are communicating programmatically through APIs."
