Dell names Michael Collins as new channel supremo for EMEA

Re-org follows completion of $60bn EMC gobble

Dell has named Michael Collins as its new head of EMEA emerging markets for the channel.

Previously Collins worked as veep and general manager at EMEA Emerging Markets.

A spokeswoman for Dell confirmed the appointment will be effective from January 2017, with Collins running the biz as vice president, Dell EMC EMEA Channel.

"Until then, both Michael and Philippe Fosse will continue to jointly-lead the Dell EMC EMEA Channel business in their established roles.

"When the time comes, we will formally announce Michael's appointment along with Philippe’s future role within Dell Technologies and further details of the regional leadership structure. Until then, it is business as usual."

Dell is expected to confirm UK leadership for the channel shortly.

Earlier this month Dell completed its gobble of storage titan EMC, creating a corporate goliath of more than $70bn (£53bn) and a headcount 140,000 people.

However, Dell is already trying to trim the workforce following its $60bn-plus buy of EMC, with between 2,000 to 3,000 heads expected to roll. ®
