Microsoft’s chief product officer, Panos Panay, took to Twitter today to insist that the Surface line was positively in the pink. In China, at any rate.
Panay is in Beijing, having toured the China production facilities for the matte black Surface Pro 6 with his Surface chum, Joe Belfiore.
Today, however, was a not a day to don the sombre black of the new fondleslab. Today was a day for pinkness and marketing shots of designers in furry pink jackets.

Following the Dulux paint convention for giving colours silly names, the pink laptop is referred to as "Blush", which is also what Microsoft does when asked about that whole Windows 10 S thing (which seems to have gone AWOL in Surface Laptop refresh) or when anyone mentions the October 2018 Update.
Pink, however, is going to remain a China-exclusive for now, and Microsoft has already begun taking pre-orders for the thing. The Surface Laptop 2 itself was launched back on October 2 and sports an eighth generation Core i5 or i7 along with the usual dollops of RAM and SSD storage. Colours for the rest of the world consist of black, platinum, burgundy and "cobalt blue".
Analysts have been forecasting the demise or sell-off of Microsoft’s line for some time, and getting a foothold in China would certainly sweeten the, er, tablet if a Chinese PC giant fancied like picking up a premium brand.
There would also be a delicious irony of a "Nokia Surface", which would obviously never happen, right? ®
