Best buds? Apple must be fuming: Samsung's wireless earphones boast 11 hours of listening on a single charge

That's enough time for all Nickelback's albums in one sitting!

Samsung Unwrapped wasn't all shiny flagships and foldable phones – the South Korean tech giant also tore the wrapping paper off its latest wireless earbuds.

Retailing at $150, or £159 in the UK, the Galaxy Buds+ sit alongside similar efforts from rivals. Where they stand out is primarily in battery life, promising 11 hours of continuous listening from a single charge.

That compares favourably to Apple's AirPods Pro, which boast around five hours of battery longevity, and Huawei's Freebuds 3, with about four hours of listen time.

The charging case supports fast charging, claiming 60 minutes of music with just three minutes connected to the mains. It has an internal capacity of 270mAh, which delivers 11 hours of playback.

From a practical standpoint, the Galaxy Buds+ will allow you to listen to audiobooks and music non-stop for the entire duration of a transatlantic flight. And while more conventional cans have delivered this for a long time, this is the first such battery life from a pair of totally wireless in-ear buds.

On the side of the buds, capacitive buttons allow the user to easily control music playback and pair to their device. They also can also invoke the Spotify app and play a specified playlist without the user needing to dig into their pocket.

Embedded into the chassis of each bud are three microphones to try to ensure phone calls are clear. These also power the ambient sound mode, which allows users to switch between listening to their tunes and hearing the world around them.
