Wishing there was something new in the Fast Ring? How about a blocking bug?

There was good news and bad news for Windows Insiders last night. The good? IT admins can now distribute 20H1 via Microsoft's Windows Server Update Services. The bad? No build for Fast Ringers.

Insider supremo (or one of them), Brandon LeBlanc unleashed the good news overnight with a post confirming the emission of build 19041.84 (aka Windows 10 version 2004, aka 20H1) for admins to pop onto their servers if their organisation is doing the whole pre-release thing.

The arrival of the build for admins using the Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) is a sign that the thing is nearly ready for primetime, since the purpose of the program is to get enterprises to check that the new code hasn't broken any critical line of business apps and validate what, if any, tweaks are needed to the environment.

An ISO of the build was also made available to Windows Insiders.

20H1 has been lurking in the Slow Ring of the Insider Program for a while now, receiving incremental bumps with the odd minor fix or security update. The last release was earlier in February. The next step should be the arrival of 20H1 in the Release Preview ring ahead of a release in the next month or so.

Skipping the Release Preview ring did not go too well for Microsoft back in the day.

Sadly, the bad news bus also pulled into town. Windows Insiders pleading for something - anything - new to appear in the Fast Ring got their wish this week, if not an actual build, as a bug blocked the expected emission from the gang.

I hate to be the bearer of bummer news, but there won't be a Fast ring build release for #WindowsInsiders this week.
