Looking for hands on, cybersecurity training? Well, look to London

SANS Institute touches down for August and September visits

Promo If you’re going to be near London in August or September, like pitting your wits against cyber attackers, and love exchanging experiences vividly with your peers even more, here’s some really good news.

SANS Institute is coming to the UK capital with a line-up of top-notch cybersecurity courses, some of which offer the option of in-person training, and all of which promise to help you build practical skills you can apply immediately.

And if you’re not quite ready to come eye to eye with your peers, here’s more good news, most of the courses are also available Live Online as well.

SANS London August Live 2021 runs from August 23 to 28 and features 13 courses in total. SANS London September 2021 runs from September 27 to October 2 and has an 11 strong course line-up. Both the August and September sessions have two foundational courses in common: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits and Incident Handling; and Security Essentials – Network, Endpoint and Cloud Both of these will be offered as in-person sessions, with a real, live trainer, giving you the full interactive training experience.

In addition, the Security Essentials – Network, Endpoint and Cloud course has been completely revamped with over 70% new content. It starts from the premise that organisations will be targeted, and therefore must be prepared for eventual compromise, meaning timely detection and response is critical. Every organization is different, so this course will not just teach you the underlying workings of computer and information security but show you how to apply them to the unique needs of you organization.

This course is highly interactive, with two brand new labs for Hashcat and Application Control with AppLocker. The labs in this course will have you cracking passwords, using Wireshark to decode network traffic, and securing and auditing a Windows system against a security template. The rest of the courses at both events will be available as In-Person Live Stream, where you will be taught at the within a dedicated classroom, while the SANS Instructor is live-streamed to the classroom. You will also receive support from professional, onsite TA's.

Other than the two courses offered in person, the line-ups for each London event are completely different, ranging from courses covering fundamental cybersecurity topics, to highly specialized forays into advanced network forensics, ethical hacking and much, much more. You can see the full agenda here and here.

Most courses have an associated GIAC qualification, and all of them include registration for an exclusive Netwars Tournament, giving you the opportunity to put your skills to the test, both against SANS own systems and your peers.

The cyber threat isn’t going to go away, so why not get ahead of the competition, and the opposition, and sign up today.

UPDATE 22 July 2021:The August event has now moved to be entirely Live Online. There will no longer be in-person tracks.
