December 3 is the final day to buy tickets – book now or miss out

Event On December 9, at 0900 GMT, Register regular Mark Whitehorn and the people behind our machine-learning conference MCubed will bring an online workshop about the foundations of AI straight to your desk.

Spaces are limited and ticket sales will close on December 3 at 1300 GMT – so head over to our website now to secure your spot.

Machine Learning is everywhere, but it is hard to get into it if you don’t know where to start. There are books and self-paced online courses, but what do you do when you get stuck? There's nothing better than hands-on, face-to-face training with someone who knows their stuff.

An Introduction to Machine Learning is a one-day, hands-on online workshop with Prof Mark Whitehorn, and it'll be packed with experiments and discussions. You and your fellow attendees will learn all about the types of ML and their algorithms, and discover the strengths and weaknesses of some approaches by using them yourself.

Registrations are open to anyone who wants to gain an understanding of machine learning, no matter your background. Prof Whitehorn will use his uniquely approachable teaching style to help you familiarize yourself with the foundations of machine learning before introducing you to supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.

From there, things will get hands-on quickly with practical exercises using commonly used algorithms, such as clustering and neural networks. Spots are limited to ensure you get a helping hand when needed and the best support possible.

If you’re not familiar with Professor Whitehorn, you’re in for a treat with this workshop. Don’t take our word for it: check out the first MCubed web lecture here for a taster of his explanation skills.

Besides his work as an emeritus professor of analytics at the University of Dundee in Scotland, Mark keeps his skills fresh by helping national and international organisations, such as the Bank of England and Sainsbury’s, in designing analytical systems and data science solutions.

Exercises and experiments will be performed in Python mostly, so installing the language environment along with an IDE will help you make the most of the workshop. This doesn’t mean the workshop is exclusively for Python folks, however. We’ll provide you with working code for experimenting and we'll walk those more at home in other languages through the examples before we start altering any parameters together.

Crucially, you'll leave with the knowledge needed to continue in whichever language, or no-code ML system, you feel most comfortable working with.

Secure your spot for December 9 now to not miss out. ®
