A year of SANS security summits
A mixture of free online events and in-person conferences that put you at the heart of the cyber security industry
Sponsored Post Where do the world's cyber security professionals get an opportunity to mingle and swap tips with their global peers while engaging in interactive, hands-on learning exercises that will help them stop cyber criminals in their tracks?
That's the aim of the SANS Summits being held over the next few months, covering everything from pen testing and red/blue/purple team simulation to locking down the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) devices and how best to make use of threat intelligence to predict what hackers are likely to do next.
Here's a quick summary of what's on:
The Pen Test HackFest Summit: 14 – 15 November, US and Virtual
Features the latest research in pen testing, exploit writing, red teaming and adversary emulation, with experienced cyber security professionals sharing their tried and trusted techniques, tools, and capabilities. Head here to browse the full agenda.
CyberThreat22: 16 – 17 January 2023, London and virtual
SANS is joining forces with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to deliver a series of presentations from top global cyber security experts with an emphasis on hands-on techniques and real-world deployments designed to boost your knowledge and skills. The event also offers the opportunity to take part in the CyberThreat Capture The Flag (CTF) challenge where you can pit your wits either against, or alongside, your colleagues and friends.
Cyber Threat Intelligence Summit: 30 – 31 January 2023, US and Virtual
If Threat Intelligence can be defined as the 'Art of Taking the Adversary by Surprise', the SANS Cyber Threat Intelligence Summit delivers an unexpected punch in the quality of the speakers it has lined up for the event. Industry heavy hitters include Sergio Caltagirone, co-creator of the Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis and Technical Director of the Global Emancipation Network, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) committed to ending human trafficking and rescuing victims through data science and analytics. Another presenter, Jason Rivera, is Director of the Strategic Threat Advisory group at CrowdStrike, having previously led cyber intelligence and cybersecurity programs for large Fortune 500 companies at Deloitte and served as an Intelligence Officer in the US army.
ICS Security Summit: 1 – 2 May 2023, US and virtual
Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are right in the firing line for hackers intent on disrupting the world's critical national infrastructure (CNI) for their own nefarious purposes. So, the cyber security professionals tasked with protecting them from unauthorised access and downtime will welcome the SANS ICS Security Summit, two days of technical talks, panel discussion and a chance to interact their your peers. Again, the ICS will put a greater emphasis on providing delegates with hands-on, practical experience of tools and techniques designed to stop threat actors in their tracks.
Delegates can choose to attend any of these SANS Summit conferences either virtually online for free, or in person at the venue for a fee. Access to the summit recordings and presentations will also be available on demand afterwards to make sure you don't miss out either way.
