Amcom Telecommunications has secured a Au$9m deal to provide hosted cloud services to The University of Western Australia.
The three-year contract utilises Amcom's Perth-based data centres to host dedicated cloud services for hundreds of the university's computer servers with over 400 terabytes of storage.
Amcom is heavily targeting its established customer base of 900 blue chip corporate and government customers for its new range of cloud services.
The UWA's librarian and director of information management, Dr Mary Davies, said: "Amcom is ready to deliver the hosted services we require now, and most important our data is stored in Perth using dedicated infrastructure (single tenant) under a private hosted services agreement. This puts us in the forefront of hosted compute and storage and frees us to concentrate on value added support for teaching, learning and research."
Davies added that the as the university's data and storage requirements increase, cloud services will play an increasing role in their management.
Amcom CEO Clive Stein said: "Over the past 10 years, we have built a solid reputation in partnering with our customers. Being chosen as a partner to one of Australia's top universities to provide a dedicated, secure and reliable Cloud solution validates our services driven strategy." ®
