HP lands $2.5bn NASA IT support deal
Bastard Operator From Space
NASA has outsourced its end-user computing services to HP, in an up to 10-year, $2.5bn deal.
HP's Enterprise Services division - formerly known as EDS - will deliver most of the space agency's hardware and software requirements for desktop and mobile.
The contract will be managed at the NASA Shared Services Center in Mississippi, itself a partnership with outsourcer CSC. It runs IT and other support services across NASA's 10 facilities.
"NASA personnel use IT to support NASA's core business, scientific, research and computational activities. HP Enterprise Services will provide, manage, secure and maintain these essential IT services for the agency," NASA said in a statment.
HP won the deal ahead of Lockheed-Martin, the current end-user contractor. ®
